Ten Views of the Great Salt Lake

Salt in these photographs was drawn from the northeastern edge of the Great Salt Lake, in what’s currently the state of Utah. Environmental and social factors have been contributing to a rapid decline in the lake’s water levels in recent years. The color in the salt photographs comes from polarized light effects using discarded plastics from the area. Tabloid size (apr. 11.4” x 15”), eight pages including two two-page spreads. 2024

Twenty-Two Views of Cold Spring Harbor

These photographs come from time spent as an artist in residence at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, an advanced research laboratory in Long Island, NY. Salt was cultivated from the harbor and imaged in microscopy facilities at the laboratory. Additional photographs were made using macro gear and polarization effects using discarded plastics from the site. The laboratory hosts a library and special collections that reflect different eras of the research that has been conducted there. Tabloid size (apr. 11.4” x 15”), 12 pages including three two-page spreads, printed on bright white premium newsprint. 2025

Fourteen Views of the Kanawha Salines

A group of saline springs in the Kanawha River Valley of West Virginia were the source of a thriving industry in the 19th century, and salt is cultivated there today. The material in these photographs comes from that site. This publication is broadsheet size (apr. 13.7” x 19”), twelve pages including two two-page-spread images. See separate listing for special edition of this publication. 2025
